Not an external audit that provides a certificate but a thorough, uncompromised internal audit where findings are without consequence and are managed in your own time. Internal audits can be multi-standard helping you strive towards best practice.

There is an adage that Murphy’s Law favours the auditor.  This is simply not true.  External auditors make observations objectively based on what is expected.  Auditor findings do not subliminally make excuses for situations.  Outsourcing audits can help to calibrate sites.
